Travel Alerts: US, Israel, Singapore Warn Against Pakistan, PoK, and Kashmir Visits
Escalating tensions following India’s Operation Sindoor missile strikes on May 7, 2025, have prompted the United States, Israel, and Singapore to issue urgent travel advisories, warning citizens against visiting Pakistan, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and Jammu and Kashmir. The alerts highlight risks of terrorism and armed conflict amid ongoing India-Pakistan hostilities.
Heightened Regional Tensions
Operation Sindoor targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, triggering Pakistan’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks on Indian cities, all thwarted by India’s air defenses. The volatile situation, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, has led to increased military activity and civilian evacuations. The US State Department cited “terrorism and potential for armed conflict” as reasons to avoid Pakistan and PoK, while urging caution in Jammu and Kashmir due to sporadic violence.
Specific Travel Warnings
Israel’s Foreign Ministry advised its citizens to leave Pakistan immediately and refrain from traveling to PoK or Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing risks near border areas. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed these concerns, urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel and, if in the region, to stay vigilant and follow local advisories. The US Embassy in New Delhi specifically flagged a 10-kilometer radius around the LoC as high-risk.
